Mark Okerstrom appointed new CEO of Expedia

Following the Dara Khosrowshahi, who took the reins of Uber, Expedia has just appointed Mark Okerstrom as its new CEO. He previously worked as Chief Financial Officer for the OTA, which he joined in 2006.

Expedia has just announced the successor of Dara Khosrowshahi, who recently left the OTA's leadership to join Uber: Mark Okerstrom becomes Expedia's new CEO.

He started his functions at the OTA back in 2006, when he assumed the duties of Senior Director, Corporate Development and Strategy, Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy, and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development until 2011. Then, he took over the Executive Vice President, Operations and Chief Financial Officer roles.

Hence, his appointment to lead Expedia comes as no suprise to its former CEO: "Mark has been by my side through every major milestone in this Company for much of the last 11 years and I’m passing these reins into the best hands," commented Dara Khosrowshahi. "He is a tireless, strategic, and steadfast leader who has pushed me to be my best self while having Expedia, Inc.’s best interests front and center at every step."

A graduate of Harvard Business School and the University of British Columbia, Mark Okerstrom will join Expedia's Board of Directors, while his predecessor will remain member of the Board.
