Berchtesgaden International Resort

Currently operated by the group InterContinental, the property will shift under Kempinski in the first semester 2015.

Kempinski is enhancing it portfolio in Germany with the takeover of the Berchtesgaden International Resort. The Swiss hotel group announced the signature of a management contract with the owner of the five-star property, Bayerische Landesbank. The Berchtesgaden International Resort will exit the portfolio of IHG to join Kempinski in the first half of 2015.

Located in the Bavarian Alps, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, the luxury resort opened its doors in 2005 and has 138 rooms and suites. It will join other Kempinski hotels in the Alpine region: Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz, in Switzerland and the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol, in Austria.

On January 1, 2014, Kempinski was the 43rd hotel group worldwide in number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. It had an international portfolio of 74 hotels and 19,564 rooms. (Read our report)
