Ireland reduces VAT from 13.5% to 9% for hospitality

A new lower rate of VAT has come into effect for a range of services in the hospitality and tourism sectors, as well as other fields, such as such as hairdressing and print publications.

The new rate comes as part of the Government’s Jobs Initiative, and it hopes it will help to stimulate the sectors which are struggling.In an effort to help certain sectors that are struggling with the economy, Ireland created the Government's Jobs Initiatives and the new VAT is part of this package.
