Régis Bulot sentenced to 5 years of prison

Formerly the international president of Relais & Châteaux for 20 years, who had been judged by the criminal court of Strasbourg for fraud, Régis Bulot received a heavy prison sentence, half of which half was suspended. He is jointly condemned, along with the other co-defendants, to reimburse the damages to the voluntary chain.

According to fellow journalists at Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, judges at the criminal court of Strasbourg have sentenced Régis Bulot, former president of the association Relais & Châteaux from 1987 to 2005, to five years of prison, half of which was suspended. He was being sued along with six other defendants for organized fraud.

Taking advantage of the industrial production of the guide published in millions of examples, the ex-president received commissions in cash or through an account opened in his name in Switzerland for an estmated 1.7 million euros. Moreover, he did not hesitate upon his departure to grant himslf a comfortable bonus and make the association pay for supplementary insurance.

All defendents must severally reimburse the damages to the association Relais & Châteaux: close to two million euros.
