Rakesh Sarna becomes Managing Director and CEO Indian Hotels Company Limited

The former Group President Americas and COO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation has succeeded Raymond N. Bickson in the position of Managing Director and CEO Indian Hotels Company Limited.

Mr Rakesh Sarna joined Indian Hotels Company Limited as managing Director on September 1, 2014. The group includes the brands Taj Hotels and Ginger Hotels. He succeeds Raymond N. Bickson, who retired on August 31.

His three decades of hospitality expertise have helped to make the Taj Group and its brands some of the most respected names in the international hotel and resort industry," remarked Cyrus P. Mistry, Chairman of Indian Hotels Company Limited, was quoted as saying in the statement.

The new Managing Director and CEO has thirty years of experience in the Hyatt group where he was Group President Americas and COO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The corporation has a portfolio of 379 hotels and 15 multiproperty holiday complexes in North America, the Caribbean and Latin America. He was responsible for the development and management of Hyatt hotels, as properties, and through management and franchise contracts. During his collaboration with the Hyatt group, he played a decisive role in the development and operations of all hotels under the Hyatt brand in Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and Middle East, South West Asia, and Latin America as well as in the implementation of a network of hotels in China, India, Brazil and Mexico. He also participated in the launch of the brand Andaz with the definition of the concept.
