Qatari Diar buys back the W Barcelona

Nicknamed Hotel Vela (The Sail) for its unusual architecture, the hotel is about to be sold by its owners the Qatari Diar fund for a total amount of € 200 million.

To finalize the sale of the W Barcelona hotel, the owners are waiting for the green light from the Barcelona Port Authority, which owns the land. According to the Spanish press, OHL, FCC, and Comsa Emte-BCN Godia agreed to sell the Qatari Diar property investment fund for a total amount of € 200 million. The Starwood Hotels management contract is not in question.Nicknamed Hotel Vela (The Sail) for its architecture, it was the first of the W brand of Starwood Hotels & Resort to open its doors in Western Europe in October 2009. Designed by architect Ricardo Bofill, it has 473 rooms on 27 floors.
