In the race for the highest hotel in the world, Grand Hyatt has just been surpassed by... Park Hyatt! The arena for this internal competition is still the same: Pudong, Shanghai’s “Manhattan”. The Park Hyatt occupies floors 79 to 93 at the Centre Financier International, a 492meter tower versus “just” 420 for the Jin Mao Tower, headquarters of the Grand Hyatt. Opened just a few months after the Beijing property, the Park Hyatt is not only higher, but more exclusive. The 80 rooms and 32 suites, all with a view of the Huangpu River, are impressive for their luxury and equipment with their vast Oriental bathrooms. The suites, in particular, measure 75 to 180 square meters and include an open kitchen. For private dinners, a chef from the gastronomic restaurant will come create under the gazes of privileged clients. Another element allowing for a well-deserved rest with one’s head in the clouds: the Water’s Edge, an oasis of relaxation on the 85th floor with a 20-meter swimming pool, as well as a wellness center with two treatment rooms. In a re-enactment of Lost in Translation Chinese style, the hotel offers two options on its 92nd floor: a western bar with its contemporary design animated by a jazz trio and a more intimate and exclusive Chinese-style bar. This building has an ecological design by the Japanese Mori Building studio, which also designed the Grand Hyatt Tokyo.
