Underwater restaurant, glass walkways are part of the equipment of the new Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland.

Built with local architects from ECADI (East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co.), this property is not the owner's first. Shimao Property owns several properties in China such as The Royal Méridien Shanghai and Hilton Nanjiang Riverside. The Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland thus joins its portfolio following an investment of 550 million dollars to build it according to Shanghaiist.

Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland opened its doors on December 1, 2018 after nearly 10 years of work. Built in a quarry about 30 kilometres from Shanghai, the 336 rooms offer a view of a setting that combines exotic flora and fauna.

16 of the 18 floors are underground and the restaurant Mr. Fisher is located on the 2 floors of the hotel that are under water.
