IHG continues to expand its boutique portfolio in Europe with the signing of Hotel Indigo Gibraltar, under a franchise agreement with the property development company Roquebrook.

Located close to the Old Town and Gibraltar International Airport, the hotel will occupy an office block. The building will be entirely refurbished with a new facade and rooftop extension for around 120 rooms. In addition to the gym, the hotel will have a destination restaurant and bar designed to attract locals as well as guests.

Hylko Versteeg, Associate Vice President of Development, IHG, Southern Europe commented: “We’re delighted to be opening our first IHG hotel with Roquebrook in Gibraltar, which we recognize is becoming an increasingly popular destination for both business and leisure travelers.”

James Gonzalez, Head of Business Development, Roquebrook, commented: “As specialists in hotel development, we felt that the Hotel Indigo brand was the best option for the location and are confident this will be an excellent addition to our portfolio.”

There are currently 24 Hotel Indigo hotels (2,182 rooms) across Europe, with 20 hotels (2,353 rooms) in the development pipeline.

As of January 1, 2018, Hilton Worldwide had 5,348 hotels with a capacity of 798,075 rooms, according to data by Hospitality ON.
