Hotel Indigo continues to weave its web in England by opening two new properties. IHG's boutique hotel chain will set up in the university town of Durham as well as in the London district of Leicester Square.
Hotel Indigo Durham offers 83 rooms and welcomes visitors in a former building of the famous English university, since classified historic building. Some rooms are punctuated with touches of purple, the official colour of the university, and decorative elements paying homage to the city of scholarship. The second address of 95 rooms is inspired by Leicester Square, where many London theatres nestle.
"Our ambition is to restore the unique character of each city in the design of each of our Hotel Indigo properties, in order to make them absolutely unique places to stay," explains Tom Rowntree, Vice-President Luxury & Boutique Brands Europe.
Hotel Indigo claims 24 hotels, or 2,182 rooms, in Europe, 20 of which are under development. With these two new properties, four hotels are expected to open in the coming months: Hotel Indigo London, Aldgate, Hotel Indigo Milan, Corso Monforte, Hotel Indigo Brighton and Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon.
In 2017, IHG gained nearly 1,500 keys with Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express, maintaining its second place in the ranking and accelerating its British hotel supply growth. For more information on the UK hotel sector, see the Hospitality Forecasts 2017-2018.
