HotelCo51 - Moxy Val d'Europe

Frédérick Manier, General Manager of the hotel, and Jeroen Borremans, Regional Director of Operations for Hotel Co 51, talk about the opening of the Moxy val d'Europe one year after the hotel's arrival in the area.

How did you become part of this adventure?

Frédérick Manier: "I was Operations Manager at the Courtyard d'Arcueil, in charge of reception, housekeeping, technical services and the restaurant (dining room and kitchen). I was looking for a new challenge to continue developing my career. I heard about this opening in Marne-la-Vallée through Hotel Co51. I was looking for the adventure of an opening. Many of my colleagues told me about it. Some only open once in their career and don't want to do it again, others do only that. I haven't yet decided where I want to go from here, but the challenge clearly appealed to me.

I was a Moxy customer myself before joining this project, and I'm the perfect target for this type of establishment. After initial discussions with Jeroen and the Hotel Co51 team, we naturally found common ground and a number of shared challenges. I was really taken with the idea and joined the adventure in March 2022 for an opening that was initially planned for June 2022, but which was finally postponed until September. When you have the right support, the timeframe is perfectly adequate. Hotel Co51 has opened a huge number of hotels in recent years and therefore has a very strong pre-opening structure. There are very well established support functions and processes. This gave me a real framework and structure to support me right up to the opening. It was extremely valuable to feel that I was working with people who knew what it was like to open a business and who were able to support me in terms of back-planning. They are professionals who come from the field and from operations. They know the challenges of an opening and how to anticipate difficulties.
