Following the inauguration of Son Bunyola last June, Richard Branson's Virgin Limited Edition is extending its footprint on Mallorca by acquiring a second property in Banyalbufar. The latter will be transformed into a luxury country hotel under the name Son Valentí, and is scheduled to open in 2026.
Banyalbufar Town Hall confirmed that the necessary licence had been issued at the end of January, allowing Son Valentí, a property dating back to the 15th century, to be converted into a hotel. Covering an area of 464,560 square metres, Son Valentí enjoys a number of protected statuses and must comply with strict heritage preservation guidelines.
The conversion process began in 2016 and involves various authorities, with final approval obtained in November 2020. The hotel is expected to comprise seventeen rooms with 34 beds and must be completed within two years of the start of work, barring a request for an extension.
The move demonstrates Virgin's commitment to expanding its hotel portfolio, with indications that the group may also explore Ibiza by opening a third property in the Balearics.
