Travelodge is delivering on its new "budget-luxe" hotel concept with the opening of the two UK properties, bringing the group's portfolio to 595 properties in the UK, Ireland and Spain.
In April this year, the group unveiled plans for its "budget-luxe" redesign, which includes a new "timeless classic style" reception and a contemporary bar-café concept.
The rooms have been redesigned with a new signature navy blue colour for the R&R (Resting and Relaxation) area and "a serene colour palette for the functional and energising side of the room, where you need to work and prepare".
The 350-room Travelodge London Docklands, located next to East India DLR station, is the group's 78th property in the capital. The hotel has a number of sustainable features including solar panels, air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.
The 69-bedroom Travelodge Hexham is located around 30 miles west of Newcastle, near Hadrian's Wall. It is the second Travelodge property to open in the area in the last seven months, following the Travelodge Newcastle Cobalt Business Park.
We are delighted to have increased our hotel network to 595 Travelodge hotels by opening five new hotels since the start of the year. This includes our first newly built premium luxury hotels in London Docklands and in the North of England at Hexham. Both areas are growing rapidly, not least because they are prime holiday destinations, attracting millions of visitors from all corners of the UK. However, with more Britons choosing to stay in budget hotels than any other type of hotel, there is a shortage of good quality, low cost accommodation in London and the North East.
Steve Bennett, Property and Development Director at Travelodge
Travelodge said it was "actively" seeking 127 property locations in London and 16 in the North East, including potential new destinations in Beverley, Bridlington, Headingley, Grimsby/Cleethorpes, Knaresborough/Wetherby, Northallerton, Ripon, South Shields and Thirsk.
