Budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced plans to more than double its presence in London, with the search on for 127 hotel sites across the British capital.
Travelodge has unveiled plans to significantly boost the size of its portfolio in London after opening new premises in Wimbledon. The 177-room London Wimbledon Central Travelodge, which is the group's 79th hotel in the capital, is located on Hartfield Road, and is the third new-build hotel to feature the group’s recently launched “budget-luxe” design.
The property also offers Travelodge’s Superrooms concept, as well as the group’s Bar Cafe onsite restaurant. Travelodge also highlighted the sustainable initiatives at the hotel, including a green roof, Air Source heat pumps, low energy lighting, motion sensing controls, aerated showers and taps, and carpets made from recycled fishing nets and plastic bottles.
Travelodge currently has a presence in 31 out of 33 London boroughs, with three new hotels opened this year in the city, and four properties are under development in Beckenham, Bermondsey, Chiswick and Peckham with a gross estimated value of £55m.
More Britons are now choosing a budget hotel than any other type of hotel and due to this increasing demand there is a shortage of quality, affordable accommodation across London. To fill this growing gap, we are actively looking for an additional 127 hotel locations and are pleased to announce that we have already secured four hotel deals. These hotels are under development and are scheduled to open in 2023. This London expansion programme could represent an overall investment of over £3bn for third-party investors and create around 6,000 new jobs.
