This is the group's 11th property in Ireland, and the first to offer Travelodge's "premium economy" SuperRooms concept. It is also the second largest hotel in Dublin city center.
The 3* Dublin City Centre Travelodge PLUS is located on Townsend Street. It has 393 rooms, including a total of 175 SuperRooms, equipped with Lavazza coffee machines, a larger desk and a Hansgrohe Raindance three-jet shower. There are also double-height rooms on the seventh floor with city views, considered to be the "jewel of the hotel". Work and relaxation areas are available, as is the Mossco bar and restaurant, open all day and featuring an outdoor terrace.
A nine-metre-high mural depicting a 19th-century diver overlooking the hotel's heated outdoor terrace decorates the building. Designed by award-winning Dublin street artist Shane Sutton, it pays homage to the hotel's dockside location.
At the same time, operator Tifco announced that it had also refurbished its Travelodge hotel in Galway City to the group's Travelodge PLUS specification: 17 new rooms were added and 19 rooms were adapted to the SuperRooms concept. The hotel's reception and Bar Café have also been renovated.
These two Travelodge PLUS hotels join the group's other establishments on the island of Ireland, which are : Travelodge Dublin City Centre Rathmines, Travelodge Dublin Phoenix Park, Travelodge Dublin Airport North, Travelodge Dublin Airport South, Travelodge Belfast Central, Travelodge Limerick Ennis Road, Travelodge Limerick Castletroy, Travelodge Cork Airportn and Travelodge Waterford. As announced earlier this year, Travelodge has completed phase 1 of its budget-luxury upgrade program.
"We are delighted to be opening Ireland's largest budget hotel with Tifco, in a key location in the heart of Dublin city center. It's a magnificent hotel that shows just how much the budget hotel sector has developed over the last three decades.
I'd like to congratulate the Tifco team on a job well done. This opening marks a turning point for budget hotels in Ireland. Britain and Ireland are now a nation of budget travellers, and more of us choose to stay in budget hotels than any other type of hotel.
The arrival of Travelodge PLUS and SuperRooms in Ireland enables us to offer greater choice to business and leisure travellers, while remaining true to our mission: to be the preferred hotel for value for money. Looking ahead, we look forward to expanding our network of hotels in Ireland and working with Tifco on our Irish portfolio." - Steve Bennett, Travelodge Property & Development Director
