Following the opening of their first property on Upplandsgatan, Scandic Hotels Group recently signed a lease agreement with Pandox, the company's owner, to establish a second Scandic Go hotel in Fridhemsplan. This new address is part of the Group's strategy to develop its young economy brand.
This is the former Best Western Fridhemsplan, which Pandox acquired in February 2023. The hotel will open in late summer 2024 after undergoing extensive renovation. Prior to reopening, the hotel will continue to operate under a fixed lease with the current operator.
Located in Fridhemsplan, on the island of Kungsholmen and at the entrance to central Stockholm, the new Scandic Go will offer 221 rooms with a modern design, equipped with intelligent solutions and clever storage. The brand's concept is to offer affordable prices to meet the needs of a new generation of leisure travelers looking for immersive experiences in the heart of the city.
Following the renovation, the property will undergo a technical upgrade supervised by Pandox, ensuring optimum energy efficiency. The hotel will be certified according to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, a sustainability certification recognized in the Nordic countries. By aligning itself with these strict standards, Scandic Go is demonstrating its commitment to ecological practices and responsible hospitality.
“It’s exciting for Pandox to be part of Scandic’s expansion in the economy segment with this new attractive lease in Stockholm. We acquired the hotel property in February this year with a clear vision for how it could be developed. The agreement with Scandic demonstrates that we have a unique business model where, together with strong partners, we can create value in both hotel operations and hotel properties.” - Liia Nõu, CEO of Pandox
“We are extremely happy to be opening our first hotel on Kungsholmen. With compact hotel rooms and space-efficient shared spaces, the property and hotel configuration are very much aligned with our new Scandic Go concept and our aim to continue developing in the fast-growing economy segment. By expanding Scandic Go, we will continue to strengthen our hotel and product offering in Stockholm while ramping up our efforts to assume a leading role and develop the segment in the Nordic region.”- Jens Mathiesen, President and CEO, Scandic Hotels Group
