Casual Hotels will open its first hotel in Italy at the end of December, the Casual Rinascimiento Firenze & Spa, located in Florence and occupying three 15th century palaces.

Next year the chain will celebrate its tenth anniversary and after operating in ownership, rental and franchising, it has decided to go into management with an "absolutely revolutionary project" according to its founder Juan Carlos Sanjuan.

The Casual Rinascimento Firenze & Spa hotel occupies the Palazzo d'Anghiari, Palazzo delle Poste and Palazzo Baldaccio buildings in the heart of the historic centre of Florence. The themed resort has 37 rooms and suites with terraces, each with a unique and immersive identity and design. Rizoma Architetture was commissioned to execute the project, merging the concepts of renaissance and modernity.

In each of its four floors, the property integrates aspects typical of the Italian Renaissance: games and entertainment (1st), art and architecture (2nd), science and discovery (3rd) and the relationship between the sacred and the profane (4th).

Inside the hotel there is a spa, built on what was once the foundations of the Roman amphitheatre in Florence, which includes a 25-metre indoor pool, a sauna and a large relaxation area. The Casual Rinascimento Firenze & Spa's facilities also include a reception bar and a small indoor garden with lemon trees.

The hotel joins the portfolio under management contract, a model that Juan Carlos Sanjuan says will allow "continued growth in a sustainable and safe manner". With this opening, Italy will be the third country in which Casual Hotels operates, which already has hotels in Spain and Portugal.

The founder of the chain is confident in the management model he is implementing and states that "this type of management contract, which does not entail any financial risks for the chain, will allow us to continue to grow in a sustainable and safe manner".
