Nordic Hotels & Resorts has opened Sommerro, a 231-room Art Deco hotel, in the former headquarters of Oslo Lysverker, the city’s original electrical company.
Located in Oslo’s West End, Sommerro has been developed by local firm LPO Architects in collaboration with GrecoDeco. Sune Nordgren, museum director and art critic, has curated a collection of contemporary and original artwork throughout the hotel.
Among the 231 rooms, 56 are branded residences. Hotel’s amenities include seven restaurants and bars, meeting and event spaces, a 100-seat gilded theatre, a wellness space with a gym, and a rooftop pool, sauna and terrace.
Regarding the F&B offer, several of the dining venues will be outsourced to local brands such as Barramon, a Spanish tapas and wine bar, and restaurant Plah spearheaded by Thai chef Terje Ommundsen.
In March 2023, Sommerro will also launch Villa Inkognito, an 11-suite private residence adjacent to the hotel. The villa will provide several living rooms, an open kitchen, bar, fitness room and an outdoor area.
