NH Hotel Group has reached its 12th property milestone in Milan with the opening of a hotel situated in an unusual building: a former church.
NH Collection Milano City Life is nestled in the Chiesa Cristo Re, a former church dating back to 1934, in the shopping district of the city. The church was redeveloped thanks to a collaboration with architectural firm Quattro Associati. The works maintain the original features of the church and adding a 13-storey tower behind it to house the 175 guest rooms.
The hotel lobby is located in a maintained section of the church, which features a Latin cross floor plan, original wooden doors, round arches and aisles of the side naves. Above the central nave, 10 duplex suites were built, 6 of which feature terraces with views of the city.
The hotel also features six meeting rooms, which can be set up in 11 different configurations and have a maximum capacity of 520 people, with a large private garden. Furthermore, the property will attract business travelers thanks to an excellent location next to the MiCo Halls, Europe’s largest convention centre.
Further facilities include a large garage, a rooftop solar power system, and a 24-hour gym. The rooftop features a pool and The District cocktail bar, while Italian restaurant Tailors specializes in homemade pasta and meat dishes. Public spaces feature modern design combining with furniture which remind the former function of the site.
