The Munich-based firm is also developing its first refurbishment project in the Amstelkwartier district in conjunction with the city of Amsterdam, which is keeping a close eye on the development of commercial accommodation.

The property will be rebranded with a view to sustainable operation, the building having been certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum in 2018.

The Ruby Emma hotel will offer 288 rooms and a 24-hour bar.

Julian Mörs, Group Director Development at Ruby, said: "Ruby's Lean Luxury philosophy addresses a growing niche in the highly competitive Amsterdam hotel market. In addition, Ruby Emma is differentiated in the market by its extraordinary sustainability, including its unique construction technology."

Ruby Hotel continues to expand its presence on European soil since its founding by Michael Struck in 2013. The group operates 12 properties and announces a pipeline of 22 properties under development. It has launched coworking space concepts currently open in Munich, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. The company also founded a joint venture in 2018 to expand its presence in the Eastern market.
