Mandarin Oriental has announced plans for its second Greek property, after the opening this year of an hotel at Costa Naviro, and the first in the country’s capital Athens.
The future hotel will be situated within The Ellinikon, an 8-billion-dollar urban regeneration project on the site of the city’s former Hellenikon International airport. The project comprises around 360 hectares of mixed-use space south of Athens city centre, and will host a Hard Rock hotel and casino.
Mandarin Oriental, Athens, scheduled to open in 2027, will feature 123 rooms as well as 17 branded Residences, including waterfront villas and apartments. There are few details about the hotel’s facilities at present, but the group confirmed that the property would offer “several food and beverage outlets”, as well as a spa and indoor and outdoor event space.

It will be the second Mandarin Oriental hotel in Greece, joining Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, which is set to open soon on the southwest coast of the country’s Peloponnese.
