LHW s'empare de la Riviera Maya, Mexique

The collection of independent luxury hotels reveals its newest members, exceptional places that combine excellence and authenticity.

Since 1928, Leading Hotels of the World has been bringing together hotels in unspoilt locations where local cultural experience and personal service prevail. The hoteliers' collective continues to expand, not only geographically, but also by introducing new features to the "Leaders Club" loyalty programme with a new "first-look" that allows member guests to discover new hotels.

Leading Hotels of the World conquers America

The Sensira Resort & Spa on the Riviera Maya in Mexico joins the hotel collection with its luxury facilities, 359 rooms and suites, 13 restaurants and bars, activities adapted to guests of all ages (swimming pool, tennis, theatres, children's clubs...) with an all-inclusive service. Opened in January 2021, this tropical oasis also offers an adult-only package with bespoke facilities and a butler on hand.

The second address on the American continent is in the United States, in Boston, Massachusetts. The Newbury Boston will officially open in April 2021 after a period of renovation. Created by designer Alexandra Champalimaud, the 375-room hotel has a prime location near Boston's public garden. The hotel has enlisted the services and creativity of Major Food Group for its dining spaces, including the rooftop restaurant.

Four new member hotels added in Europe

The Kozmo Hotel Budapest, a new luxury hotel opening in the second quarter of 2021, is joining the Leading Hotels of the World collection. Its building, combining history and new design, features 84 rooms. Located near the famous Great Synagogue of Budapest and the Grand Market, the new Hungarian hotel enjoys an exceptional location.

The second new European hotel is located in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, in the town of Chiusdino. The Borgo Santo Pietro Hotel is set on a 300-acre estate with 20 rooms and suites, Michelin-starred restaurants, a luxury holistic spa dating back over 800 years and a large farm.

Leading Hotels of the World adds another Italian address to its collection: the Therasia Resort Sea & Spa on the unspoilt island of Vulcano, located in northern Sicily. This resort, combining relaxation and well-being, offers 4 restaurants where Mediterranean and Sicilian culinary traditions dominate, notably in its Michelin-starred restaurant "Il Cappero". Its 73 rooms and suites enjoy an exceptional view over the bay and the Aeolian Islands.

The Cap Vermell Grand Hotel is the latest European hotel to become a member of Leading Hotels of the World. Located in the heart of a charming village perched on the island of Mallorca, the Cap Vermell Grand Hotel offers 142 rooms and suites as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant and tapas bar with a menu based on local and seasonal products.

The Asian continent offers two new addresses

Leading Hotels of the World welcomes a new member, located on the most pristine beach in Lombok, Indonesia. From the second quarter of 2021, The Legian Sire will offer 61 suites and villas overlooking the Gili Islands. An oasis of serenity and well-being, the hotel will offer an apothecary bar and three restaurants, including a vegetarian restaurant with produce from their own organic garden.
The collection of independent luxury hotels adds the Hotel Fauchon in Kyoto, Japan to its list. From March 2021, the Fauchon Hospitality brand will offer guests this new address, blending French gastronomy with Japanese culture. The hotel features a gourmet restaurant called "Grand Café Fauchon" and a tea room. The hotel is ideally located near the Kamo River, the historic Matsubara Bridge and the modern Shijo Kawaramachi district.

During 2021, 8 more hotels will join the collection:

  • The Place Firenze (Florence, Italy) in April
  • Villa Nai 3.3 (Zman, Croatia) in May
  • Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp (Antwerp, Belgium), in September
