After 15 years without hotel operator development, the Amalfi Coast is preparing to host a brand new property in spring 2022.

In April 2022, the Borgo Santandreas hotel will open its doors in Italy, on the Amalfi Coast. The project is led by the De Siano and Orlacchio families, who already own hotels on the island of Ischia.

The renovation of this cliffside destination was not an easy task, but by pooling their strength and passion, they were able to complete this ambitious project.

Maurizio Orlacchio, an expert in the hospitality sector and a design enthusiast, will take the lead on this hotel. His knowledge of the sector is based on his experience in properties of the Four Seasons brand and at the San Montano Resort and Spa in Ischia.

The real difference is being a family-owned and managed hotel where an owner can spend quality time with guests and have the freedom to make decisions with speed, which even the most amazing hotel chain cannot do. We welcome guests as if in our own home.

The 29 rooms and 16 suites, which are expected to increase as the property develops, are housed in a building dating from the 1960s. The design and decoration have been inspired by the original architecture of the building. The hotel aims to be a true showcase of "Made in Italy" design. The hotel features Murano glass creations as well as custom-made woodwork and art from the Campania region.

The renovation process of this property started in 2018 and had to be carried out in a very meticulous way due to Amalfi's UNESCO World Heritage status. Architects Bonaventura Gambardella and Nikita Bettoni worked on the project.

Built on a mountainside 90 metres above the Tyrrhenian Sea, with a 19th century fisherman's hut below, the hotel includes the only private beach in Amalfi. It is accessed by two lifts added by the original builder.

Bringing together mid-century and Mediterranean styles was not obvious. And I’m particularly proud of how the puzzle came together to create something remarkable and beautiful that will be here for the next few decades.

Maurizio Orlacchio, Managing director of Borgo Santandreas
