IHG has opened a new hotel in the heart of Rome, the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace, the latest hotel in the InterContinental brand.

The hotel is located in the center of Rome, near the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and the Pantheon. It has 160 luxury rooms and suites with decor influenced by the ancient city, combining contemporary and neoclassical design. It features a restaurant, Scarpetta NYC, as well as Charlie's Rooftop and Anita's Bar and Lounge.

Designed by Italian architect Carlo Busiri Vici, the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace takes its name from the building it occupies. It is the former "Ambasciatori Palace", opened in 1905 to accommodate ambassadors visiting Rome. Then, from 1946 to 1993, the Palace Hotel housed the library of the U.S. Embassy.

The InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace joins the 450 hotels in the group's luxury and lifestyle collection, which includes the Six Senses, Regent, Vignette Collection, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo and Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts brands. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts plans to open more than 30 hotels in this category over the next two years.
