The group announces its expansion to Egypt and Tunisia.

Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts signed an agreement with the Arab Company for Hotel & Tourism Investments for a hotel in Luxor in Egypt. The property will take the name of “Steigenberger Resort Achti” and will be located on the East Bank of the Nile. Its opening is scheduled on the third quarter of 2018.

The hotel will target business travellers and will include 281 rooms, suites, and bungalows, 6 restaurants and bars, swimming pools, a business centre, a meeting room and a permanent multi-purpose tent for conferences and banquets.

Luxor plays a significant role in Egypt's tourism industry; the government has many projects for the country (see our Analysis on Egypt).

The brand has also opened a beach resort in the Gulf of Hammamet in Tunisia with Steigenberger Marhaba Thalasso. The resort offers 371 rooms and suites, 6 restaurants and bars, swimming pools, a Thalassotherapy centre, other wellness facilities and six conference rooms. The hotel’s owner and Deutsche Hospitality’s contractual partner is ITT Hotel Corporation of Tunisia.

“The signing of the agreement in Luxor and the opening of our Hammamet hotel have added two attractive locations. Both are popular holiday destinations which have enabled us to expand our resort provision. We are looking forward to firing the enthusiasm of our guests here in future by offering ‘made in Germany’ service quality,” declares the brand.
