The company is "ready to redefine the sea holiday experience" with Spectrum of the Seas.

Since the entry of cruise ships on the Chinese market, Royal Caribbean claims it has experienced a decade of significant growth and development.

Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International said: "The introduction of our highly anticipated Quantum Ultra Class will represent a leap forward in ship design and experiences specifically tailored to Chinese guests.

Quantum Ultra classed, Spectrum of the Seas will be able to accommodate 4,246 passengers (double cabin base) and 1,551 crew members by June 2019 from Shanghai. Passengers can choose from 27 itineraries, including 23 destinations across 3 countries, out of Shanghai, Tianjin, Hong Kong and Shenzhen in China.

It will have an exclusive suite area dedicated to Golden and Silver Suite passengers, who will also have special keycard access to services including a private elevator and restaurants and lounges dedicated to them.

The boat will also have:

- The Balcony, a private outdoor space dedicated to tanning and relaxation

- The Boutique, a commercial space

- Ultimate Family Suite, a 120m² space spread over two floors

- Several restaurants, including the main 3-level dining room with a seating capacity of 1,844 offering Chinese and Western dishes

- Star Moment, a karaoke room

- SeaPlex, a large indoor sports and entertainment centre with bumper cars, roller skating, basketball court, etc.

- Sky Pad, a trampoline experience coupled with virtual reality

- North Star, a glass observation capsule on a mechanical arm that raises passengers to nearly 100 meters over the sea to enjoy a panoramic view

- RIPCord, a skydiving simulator
