IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed agreements with WING, a leading property development and investment group in Central Europe, to introduce two new properties in Budapest - Hotel Indigo Budapest Andrassy and Holiday Inn Express Vagohid.
The signings, unveiled at the EXPO Real 2023 property show, mark the first appearance of both brands in Hungary, underlining a strong commitment to investment and growth in the premium and essential hotel sectors.
Hotel Indigo Budapest Andrassy, scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2028, will be located in the city's sixth district. This chic hotel will offer 103 guest rooms, a lively bar and a restaurant. Nestled on the famous Andrassy Avenue, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002, the hotel is ideally located close to the new Museum Quarter in City Park. This addition further accelerates the impressive growth trajectory of the Hotel Indigo brand, with 145 hotels in operation and a strong pipeline of 128 properties worldwide, rapidly establishing itself in popular destinations around the world while embracing the essence of local neighbourhoods.
These announcements follow the previous signing of the agreement between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Kimpton Budapest, as well as the successful opening of Crowne Plaza Budapest in 2021. With these latest additions, IHG Hotels & Resorts consolidates its footprint in Hungary, where it now operates four properties under renowned brands such as InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts. In addition, the company has a further three hotels in the development phase, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening its presence in the Hungarian market.
"We are delighted to partner with WING to introduce Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express to the country through these distinct and exciting properties. These signings are testament to the owners' confidence in our brands and their popularity with guests from around the world who will soon be welcomed to our hotels in this energetic and historic capital, whether for business, leisure or events." - Ms. Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts
"WING's hotel portfolio has grown significantly in recent years, with a number of leading international hotel brands choosing our developments.
