IHG opens its first property in this country.
The group announced the opening of Holiday Inn Algiers – Cheraga Tower. IHG was already present in Africa across 9 countries but not in Algeria. Now, it has 25 operational hotels on the continent.
The hotel offers 242 rooms. It is located west of Algiers, 30 minutes from the international airport and is near international business centres, embassies as well as popular tourist sites like Hydra District and the Opera.
The property comprises two restaurants, one providing a scenic view of the city, a fitness centre, an indoor and outdoor pools, hammam, sauna, a massage centre as well as a business area (four meetings rooms, a banquet hall and an indoor parking).
Pascal Gauvin, IHG’s Managing Director IMEA, is excited to debut in Algeria since the country’s “proximity to Europe, airline connectivity, strong culture and heritage along with substantial business links creates a strong demand for international branded accommodation and a need for world-class hospitality.”
As of January 1, 2017, IHG ranked third hotel group worldwide with 5,174 properties for a total of more than 767,000 rooms, according to data from Hospitality ON.
