The Indian Hotels Company is strengthening its presence in the East with three Taj hotels: two in Calcutta, Bengal and another in Patna, Bihar.
IHCL had signed two hotels with the Ambuja Neotia group in 2016: the Taj Chia Kuti in Darjeeling which will open on December 14 of this year and the Taj Guras Kutir in Gangtok which should open by the end of 2022. These five projects will result in a total of 500 rooms.
About the three hotels :
- The Taj Hotel in Ambuja city center in Calcutta is strategically located close to the airport and the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, one of the largest convention centers in South Asia. The hotel, with 147 keys, has been in operation for more than 10 years and is scheduled to undergo major renovations before reopening as the Taj Hotel in 2021.
- The Eco Park Taj Hotel, located in New Town, is a 57-room hotel overlooking the 112-acre Eco Park waterfront. The hotel, which has banquet and convention facilities, is scheduled to open in 2021.
- The Taj Hotel, located in the center of Ambuja town in Patna, is on Budh Marg in Lodipur, a short drive from the airport. It will be the first branded luxury hotel to enter the city. The hotel will have 126 rooms with conventions and meetings. It will open in December 2022.
