By 2025, China will be home to a very special hotel. What's special about it? It will be themed on the world-famous Japanese character Hello Kitty.
Hyatt Hotel Corporation will develop a Hello Kitty themed hotel in collaboration with Keyestone Group, a Hong Kong-based conglomerate specialising in the development and management of high-end projects in the Greater China region. The hotel will be located in Sanya, Hainan Province.
This project is in line with the development of a leisure park in this area with the Hello Kitty theme, the Sanya Hello Kitty Resort. Keyestone Group will be in charge of the development of this resort, which will then be integrated into Hyatt's JdV brand.
All 221 guest rooms and villas will be decorated according to the theme of the park, immersing guests in a colourful and "kawai" (cute in Japanese) world. The hotel will also feature three signature restaurants and bars, a themed ballroom and a fitness and spa area with a swimming pool.
Stays at the hotel are intended to be immersive and unique, providing a real experience based on the Sanrio universe, which includes the Hello Kitty character. To achieve this, the use of technology and storytelling elements are at the heart of the development of this project in order to meet the expectations of the family clientele who should be able to stay in this hotel from 2025.
As Keyestone Group continues to grow our hospitality portfolio across Greater China, we are excited to extend our collaboration with Hyatt. Sanya Hello Kitty Hotel will leverage our respective strengths in developing and managing world-class hospitality projects to offer guests a truly unique experience as they unwind and rejuvenate with their favourite Sanrio characters. We believe that the hotel and Sanya Hello Kitty Resort will become icons in Hainan’s tourism landscape and enable us to tap the growing demand for high-quality travel experiences in this region.
Jeffery Pun, CEO of Keyestone Group
We are delighted to be working with Keyestone Group and are grateful to them for entrusting Hyatt with the first Hello Kitty-themed hotel in this fast-growing market and expand our brand portfolio in China. We look forward to bringing to life well-loved Sanrio characters in this exciting new project, which will retain a unique identity while providing the JdV by Hyatt brand’s signature guest experience that is inclusive, free-spirited and distinguished by heartfelt and joy-driven service.

The Sanya Hello Kitty Hotel is not the first property to come out of a collaboration between the two groups. Indeed, the Grand Hyatt Sanya Haitang Bay Resort & Spa has opened its doors in 2016 thanks to the involvement of Keyestone Group alongside Hyatt.
