Gran Meliá, the luxury brand of Meliá Hotels International, is preparing to add an important element to its portfolio with the forthcoming launch of Torre Melina, a Gran Meliá hotel in Barcelona. Set to open in early 2024, the new property is the company's latest venture and bears a significant historical name.
Following extensive renovations, the hotel is set to reopen in January 2024, offering a luxury accommodation experience with 391 rooms and suites, complemented by facilities including 18 event spaces, exhibition areas, conference facilities and meeting rooms. Meliá's aim is to restore the hotel and its century-old gardens to their former glory, creating an urban oasis of tranquillity and luxury in the upper part of Barcelona's Diagonal.
Located next to the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona, Torre Melina takes its name from the historic 12th-century Masía Torre Melina, which stands within the hotel grounds. This decision reflects Meliá's commitment to being an active and responsible member of the local community.
Meliá has also unveiled two culinary partnerships for the hotel: "ERRE" by Errechu, renowned for its high-end grills with a focus on quality ingredients, and a jazz club featuring the mixologist talents of Erik Lorincz, who brings British expertise to Barcelona.
The recently inaugurated Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, adjacent to the future Torre Melina hotel, is now fully operational. It is playing a crucial role in attracting the growing demand from the MICE segment thanks to its improved facilities and technological upgrades, offering 39 multi-purpose meeting rooms, an auditorium seating over 2,000 and more than 4,000 square metres of exhibition space.
