The opening marks a significant addition to the Meliá Hotels International group's portfolio, which includes an exclusive resort with a polo field, the Meliá Desert Palm, among other notable properties in Dubai. With 17 hotels in operation and a further seven on the horizon, the Gran Meliá brand continues to lead the group's luxury projects across Europe and the Middle East.
The Gran Meliá Dubai Jumeirah has a total of 380 rooms and suites. Each offers views of the ocean and the Dubai skyline. Located on the waterfront and close to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the resort offers a full range of facilities to suit the preferences of both business and leisure travellers. It was designed by the renowned architectural and landscaping firms MOMA, desertINK & Lagranja.
The complex offers direct access to the marina, event facilities for up to 1,000 people, and wellness and fitness options. When it comes to culinary experiences, Gran Meliá Dubai aspires to establish itself as a leading dining destination by offering some of the world's best brands and experiences in its iconic restaurants and bars.
The new property is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing global expansion of the Gran Meliá brand. With an established presence in 10 countries, the brand is known for bringing the Spanish philosophy of 'good living' and the cutting edge of gastronomy to world-class destinations.
"The signing of this fantastic hotel gives us another opportunity to demonstrate our proven excellence in the luxury segment in Dubai, a market to which our Group is already firmly committed. In this sense, Port La Mer - Jumeirah is the ideal destination to bring to a key market such as Dubai the exclusive interpretation of Mediterranean luxury of our iconic Gran Meliá brand". - Gabriel Escarrer, PDG of Meliá Hotels International
This project is the result of a successful partnership between Meliá Hotels International and Albwardy Investment LLC, the group that owns the hotel. This collaboration has already resulted in the management of seven other properties, including Gran Meliá Arusha, Meliá Zanzibar, Meliá Collection Serengeti Lodge and the recently opened Meliá Collection Ngorongoro Lodge, all in Tanzania. The portfolio also includes the Gran Meliá Iguazú in Argentina, the Meliá Collection London Kensington in the UK and the Meliá Collection Desert Palm in Dubai. In addition to the new project in Dubai, Meliá and the Albwardy Group are preparing to open a hotel in the Seychelles in the near future, among other strategic projects.
