Meliá Hotels International has inaugurated the Palazzo Cordusio, A Gran Meliá Hotel in Milan, marking its fourth establishment in the city and the debut of the Gran Meliá brand.
This luxury hotel, located in Piazza Cordusio, is housed in the historic Palazzo Venezia, the former headquarters of Assicurazioni Generali, built between 1897 and 1901 by the famous architect Luca Beltrami. The recent renovation project, entrusted to Studio Marco Piva by Generali Real Estate and ICM, included the artistic direction of the areas with monumental restrictions, the interior architecture and the courtyard.
The transformation has resulted in 84 rooms and suites with large windows and, in some cases, private balconies. The rooms overlook Piazza Cordusio, via Orefici, via dei Mercanti and the Duomo. The interior design of the rooms and communal areas was created by the Asah studio of Alvaro and Adriana Sans, partners of the ICM.
The collaboration with Sunset Hospitality Group brings culinary concepts to Milan's Palazzo Cordusio, Gran Meliá. These include "Gioia Pasticceria" by pastry chef Fabio Bertoni, "Giardino Cordusio", a champagne bar, "Isola Ristorante" with a menu inspired by southern Italy, and "Sachi", which offers innovative cuisine. Guests enjoy a wellness area and a gym with panoramic views.
The opening reinforces the importance of Italy in the luxury development of Meliá Hotels International, which is planning a fifth hotel in Milan by 2024 as part of "The Meliá Collection".
