The young French group has acquired Cowley Manor in the bucolic Cotswolds. This is the group's 8th destination after Ibiza, London, Menorca, New York City, Paris, Venice and Verbier. It is also its 8th hotel property.
Jessica and Peter Frankopan, co-founders of A Curious Group of Hotels, have sold their 31-room property, which is located in the main house and stables on an estate of 55 acres. The property/ouverture/experimental-group-pose-le-pied-au-vert-outre-manche is already renowned for its spa, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room and gym.
The founders of Experimental Group plan to retain the existing teams, including the general manager. They also intend to capitalise on the terroir of the place by working with local producers. The restaurant's menu will be created under the direction of Chef Dominic Hargreaves, and will include a new open-air kitchen during the summer months. The drinks offer, a hallmark of the group, will of course be carefully thought through, again with the mobilisation of local breweries and distilleries. The drinks menu will be managed by a permanent sommelier.
The group intends to capitalise on the property's character and imbue it with its brand through a succession of works that will be carried out over time. It also plans to introduce four new types of rooms.
