Legacy Hotel Cascais

Hilton has announced the opening of Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton, the brand's third property in Portugal, joining Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Gaia and The Emerald House Lisbon. This new addition is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton brand's European expansion strategy.

Located in the seaside resort of Cascais, 28 kilometers from Lisbon, the Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton offers 59 rooms. Combining modern design with a certain opulence, it pays tribute to the history of Cascais, known as a summer retreat for European royalty and nobility since 1890, during the reign of King Louis I.

The hotel features indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a spa, the Legacy Spa by Wake, which offers three treatment rooms, a sauna and a modern fitness center. Ristorante Don Alfonso 1890 at the Legacy Hotel Cascais combines traditional dishes from the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast.

The hotel offers a variety of activities all year round. The resort is also renowned for surfing and sailing, as well as for its lively nightlife with numerous restaurants and luxury bars around the marina. Cascais is also home to the Casino Estoril, which inspired the first James Bond novel, "Casino Royale", written by Ian Flemming.

“We are excited to continue to expand our Curio Collection by Hilton brand across Europe, adding hotels in sought-out destinations like Cascais, known for its rich history and picturesque beaches. Opening as our tenth hotel in Portugal, Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton marks a significant milestone for Hilton, reiterating our confidence and commitment to the Portuguese market, where we have more than doubled our portfolio in the last five years.” - David Kelly, senior vice president, Continental Europe, Hilton

“Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton joins a growing global portfolio of more than 160 hotels, 51 of which are in the EMEA region, offering guests distinct, one-of-a-kind experiences, high-end design and world-class culinary moments. This hotel is perfectly placed for guests to satisfy their curiosity and immerse themselves in Cascais’ storied past, offering a unique retreat just a stone's throw from the historic old town.” - Jenna Hackett, brand leader, Curio Collection by Hilton

The Curio Collection by Hilton brand plans to double its portfolio in Portugal by 2024 with the forthcoming opening of Duo Hotel Lisbon.

Portugal, an attractive market for hoteliers

Portugal is increasingly attracting hotel investment, with several major international chains announcing new openings in the coming years. Marriott International, with its extensive global portfolio, plans to open 1,575 rooms in Portugal over the next three years, concentrated in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve. B&B HOTELS continues to expand its presence with two new establishments in Olhao and Figueira da Foz, bringing the total number of their hotels in the country to 14. The Standard, Lisbon will open in late 2025 with 172 rooms in the historic Alfama district, while IHG Hotels & Resorts announces the arrival of Kimpton in Lisbon in 2026, with a 141-room hotel and modern facilities. These developments demonstrate Portugal's growing appeal to major international hotel groups, reinforcing its position as a leading tourist destination in Europe.
