CitizenM debuts in Italy with the opening of CitizenM Rome Isola Tiberina, marking the expansion of the brand in the South of Europe.
Designed and built in the 1950s by the architect Eugenio Montuori, the building is spreading over 5 floors and is occupying a surface of approximately 7,000m².
To open as a CitizenM property, the building has been renovated, with a strong focus on sustainability. Adhering to elevated environmental standards, such as energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction, the property is working towards securing LEED Gold certification.
Both the interiors and facades were designed by Concrete, an Amsterdam-based collaborator, in collaboration with local architecture firm Artelia. Bright colour palette and modern furnishings are at the heart of the hotel’s design.
Along the 162 guestrooms, the hotel also features a signature canteenM bar and a large rooftop terrace that offers travellers viewpoints over the city and Tiber Island.
The commitment to art, which is part of the CitizenM’s DNA, is reflected in the artworks spreaded over the hotel. For example, there are a tribute to the city of Rome created by Roman artist Uno, works from Italian artists Piero Percoco and Camillo Pasquarelli, and works from Padua-based photographer Andrea Tonnellotto.
With CitizenM Rome Isola Tiberina, we’re bringing a breath of fresh air and novelty to one of the world’s most in-demand tourist and business destinations, which is experiencing an exciting period of vibrancy and growth. With our unique proposition, we are positioning ourselves in line with this ‘new Renaissance’ of Roman hospitality, offering the city a new point of reference for smart travelers, young and innovative companies and global citizens looking for a place to stay and meet the city. We hope that this is just the first in a series of new openings in Italy.
