The opening of the B&B Hotel Ciudad de Lleida marks the hotel chain's expansion on the Iberian Peninsula, where it already has 46 hotels in Spain and 11 in Portugal, with over 5,000 rooms.
Located in Lleida, just a few minutes from the city center and its main points of interest, B&B Hotel Ciudad de Lleida offers 75 double and triple rooms, as well as meeting rooms, parking and a 24-hour reception.
The building is operated by the chain on a rental basis, enabling B&B Hotels to continue developing its asset-light business model in the Iberian Peninsula.
The remaining ten B&B Hotels in Catalonia are located in Barcelona, Girona, Figueres and Tarragona.
"Catalonia is essential for our future developments and we already have several projects in the pipeline. One of them is Vilaseca (Tarragona), a project for which we are working hand in hand with Meridia." - Lucía Méndez-Bonito, CEO of B&B Hotels Spain & Portugal
B&B Hotels' growth is based on an asset-light strategy that allows the hotel chain to save money on investments and maintain a steady growth rate over the long term. In 2022, the chain experienced exponential growth with the opening of 97 new hotels.
Earlier this month, B&B Hotels signed a partnership with investment manager Meridia Capital Partners SGEIC to expand in Spain. Meridia will acquire land on the outskirts of major cities to build hotels with between 100 and 200 rooms, which will be leased to B&B Hotels on a fixed-rate basis, as part of an operation involving an investment of 200 million euros in Spain.
