B&B HOTELS reaffirms its commitment to Portugal by announcing the opening of two new establishments in the country: B&B Hotel Olhao and B&B Hotel Figueira da Foz.
These openings bring the total number of B&B HOTELS establishments in Portugal to 14, strengthening its presence in key cities such as Lisbon, Porto, Guimarães and Braga. This expansion is part of B&B HOTELS' strategic focus on the Iberian Peninsula, where the chain already operates 45 hotels in Spain and 14 in Portugal, offering more than 5,000 rooms.
The B&B Hotel Olhao represents the chain's debut in Portugal's Algarve region. It is located in the Ria shopping centre and close to the beach. The B&B Hotel Figueira da Foz is located on the seafront, just 300 metres from the town centre and has 47 rooms. Both properties operate under B&B HOTELS' long-term leasing model, which allows for sustained growth and expansion.
Prior to these openings, B&B HOTELS inaugurated its 700th hotel in Guimarães, using the innovative CREE industrialised construction system, in line with the company's commitment to sustainable development and reducing its carbon footprint.
Robust growth in Iberia
Under the leadership of CEO Lucia Méndez-Bonito, B&B HOTELS Spain & Portugal has experienced remarkable growth, doubling its turnover since 2019 and expanding its portfolio of hotels throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Currently, the company has 20 hotels under construction, moving closer to its ambitious target of 200 hotels by 2030.
In addition to organic growth, B&B HOTELS has forged partnerships with industry players such as Meridia, Avintia and CEP to further fuel its expansion efforts. These alliances have led to significant developments, including a recent agreement with Grupo Avintia Real Estate to jointly develop 10 new hotels by 2025, worth over €100 million.
In addition, the company's commitment to social responsibility is underlined by its certification as a B Corp company.
An agreement has also been reached with Construcciones Eliseo Pla (CEP) for the collaborative creation of three new hotels in Valencia, Seville and Alicante, scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
"We have a strategy very much focused on growth in Spain and Portugal. On the one hand, acquisitions that allow us to cover and grow a lot in the short term; and on the other, new developments. To this end, we are forming new alliances with funds and developers, which will enable us to grow at the desired pace with a good pipeline and, more importantly, a guaranteed pipeline." - Lucia Méndez-Bonito, CEO of the company.
