Meliá Serengeti Lodge is located in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania's oldest national park, on the western border of Lake Victoria.

The hotel was designed with the protection and preservation of the environment in mind. To this end, it has facilities to produce its own energy, covering about half of the hotel's total energy demand. Moreover, additional measures have been taken to reduce consumption through a design that promotes natural cooling of rooms.

The facility has a composting plant to convert organic waste into fertilizer, which is given to local farmers, and a water purification plant that reduces the production of plastic bottle waste.

The catering service operates on a short circuit, with products coming from the neighbouring regions of Arusha and Manvara, complemented by other regions in the rest of Tanzania. The hotel also offers its guests local gastronomy workshops to help introduce them to the country's traditions.

The Masai tribe who have lived in the Serengeti for generations has also been intensely involved in the opening of Meliá Serengeti Lodge. The hotel has recruited several employees of Massai origin, who provide valuable advice through their unique understanding of the national park.

The 50-room hotel has a swimming pool, gymnasium, TV room and spa, as well as three categories of luxurious rooms. There are three restaurants: Savannah All Day Dining, Savannah Grill Buffet and Boma Restaurant. Both bars offer views of the African plains and offer Tanzanian teas, wines and spirits.
