European Camping Group has announced the completion of the acquisition of the Vacanceselect group on 23rd February 2023. The move makes ECG the new European leader in the outdoor hospitality industry.
The new ensemble offers a high-end range of around 100 owned sites (Tohapi and Marvilla Parks) and 400 partner destinations (Homair, Eurocamp, Vacanceselect, Canvas Holidays, Roan) across Europe. Its campsites are located in leading tourist destinations such as the Côte d'Azur, Corsica, the Costa Brava, Tuscany, and Dalmatia, among others.
In the high season, the group now employs more than 5,000 people and welcomes customers from France, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, and Poland.
European Camping Group is active in all forms of the campsite business: renting mobile homes or empty pitches, selling residential mobile homes, and internet distribution. Its campsites are top-of-the-range 4 and 5* destinations and include facilities such as water parks, sports halls, and mini-golf courses.
The group aims to reach a turnover of €700 million in 2023. As part of its strategy to improve the customer experience, the group is launching a range of new "Lounge" accommodations, which offer a variety of high-quality services and facilities, including a fully equipped terrace, for the upcoming season.
Finally, in order to promote sustainable tourism, ECG is also experimenting with solutions and equipment designed to reduce electricity consumption in accommodation or to ensure self-supply. For example, it is planning to install a monitoring centre or solar panels in its properties.
The acquisition of the Vacanceselect group by European Camping Group was first announced on 29th July 2022, before being approved by the French Competition Authority on 14th February 2023.
European Camping Group, which now includes Vacanceselect, is a great French success story: the group has become the European leader in its sector. I am proud to bring together two teams of talented and passionate professionals, who together will make our campsites and accommodation even more attractive to all European families.
Alain Calmé, President of European Camping Group
With this acquisition, we aim to bring together the best practices of each player in order to improve the quality, accessibility, and, above all, the sustainability of our offer. On the subject of sustainable tourism, our initiatives to reduce consumption or of self-supply, which are currently being tested on certain sites, could be extended to even more campsites in Europe for the coming seasons.
Philippe de Trémiolles, Managing Director of European Camping Group
All the teams of the new group are driven by the same mission to create the ideal conditions to allow all our customers to experience a reconnection holiday: to reconnect with nature, to find themselves again as a couple, as a family, to spend time together and to leave happy and rested, and for the children to leave with stars in their eyes.
Quentin Schaepelynck, Managing Director of Homair (ECG’s historic French brand)
