Travelodge and The Gym Group, a low cost fitness chain, have announced a £70 million plan to co-locate in ten sites in London and the south east over the next five years.
The two companies already have 4 joint operations, located in Guildford, Plymouth, Waterloo and Wembley. “The four co-locations with The Gym Group have worked enormously well for both parties so it makes absolute sense for us to look for, and secure, sites together,” says Paul Harvey, managing director, international and development at Travelodge.Their expansion plans for this model are based on similar growth models between the companies, based on undersupply of budget options within their respective markets. “Given the space requirements of both companies, as well as our compatible business models, it really is the perfect fit,” continues Harvey. “The Gym Group on the ground or lower ground floor and Travelodge on the floors above.”
