Signo Hospitality GmbH has signed a long-term lease agreement for the property planned in Admiral-Rosendahl-Strasse. The hotel will be managed by the value hotel brand Super 8 by Wyndham. The real estate service provider Engel & Völkers Hotel Consulting had found the future operator on behalf of The Grounds Real Estate Development AG from Berlin and during a bidding process.

In front of the Terminal 3 project, the future Super 8 hotel will totalize 288 rooms on a surface area of 8 300 m². The hotel’s opening is expected by 2023.

In fact, the Frankfurt Airport’s extension is planned for 2022. The airport, located in the South-West of Frankfurt, recorded nearly 70 million passengers in 2019, and The Terminal 3 will meet a sharp rise in demand and will be able to host around 20 million passengers per year. Business travellers and tourists will be able to reach Terminal 3 in a few minutes without changing trains thanks to the S-Bahn’s (suburban railway) planned extension.

Several stakeholders expressed themselves about the project:

Matthias Hautli, Director Engel & Völkers Hotel Consulting, says:

"The construction of Terminal 3 will also increase the demand for modern hotel concepts in the immediate vicinity. We see this project as a positive market signal in these challenging times for the hotel industry".

Arndt Krienen, CEO of The Grounds Real Estate Development AG, adds:

"We are convinced that the planned hotel product will meet the future demand generated by the Terminal 3 construction. The planned direct S-Bahn connection to the new terminal is a strategic competitive advantage. We are delighted that, in cooperation with Engel & Völkers Hotel Consulting, we have now also found an experienced operator for this major project. Signo Hospitality is a very reliable partner for this development".

Sascha Konter, Managing Director at Signo Hospitality and previously long-standing hotel director of the Sheraton Hotel at Frankfurt Airport, adds:

"We look forward to the joint implementation. The location in Zeppelinheim offers optimal conditions for the successful positioning of the planned concept".

Christian Michel, Vice President Development Europe at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, adds:

"We are delighted to be working with Signo Hospitality GmbH to launch the Super 8 by Wyndham in Frankfurt. With the growing demand for good quality, affordable accommodation, the brand's expansion fits perfectly with our goal of providing hotel travel for everyone in this important market.''

The hotel offer is thick in Frankfurt, with 140 hotels and around 28 520 rooms in 2020. Furthermore, plenty of hotel projects are in the pipeline. By way of indication, airport economic hotels’ occupancy rate is around 65% in 2019 and the average daily rate reached almost 75€ (taxes excluded) the same year.
