
Regent Hotels and Resorts has formed a strategic alliance with Rezidor Hotel Group. The latter is to independently manage a portfolio of Regent hotels in Russia, the Baltic States, Middle East, and Africa and in conjunction with Regent Hotels is to operate establishments elsewhere in Europe.
Regent Hotels and Resorts (RHR) has announced the signing of a long-term Strategic Alliance Agreement with Rezidor Hotel Group. The Regent brand and business is owned by Formosa International Hotels Corporation (FIHC), having been acquired by the latter in 2010 from the Carlson-Rezidor Group.Under the new agreement, Rezidor is to exclusively develop and manage Regent hotels in the regions of Russia/CIS, Baltics, Middle East and Africa, whilst working together with RHR on the development of new Regent hotels in other parts of Europe, where RHR will continue to operate existing Regent properties.Regent hopes the new alliance will strengthen its growth strategy, the group intending to expand its portfolio of luxury five-star hotels on an international scale. RHR continues to focus primarily on mixed use development projects combining luxury hotels with branded residential components, currently operating establishments in Beijing, Berlin, and Taipei amongst others. Its pipeline includes hotels in Abu Dhabi, Bali, and Doha.
