A new strategic organization for Steigenberger hotel brands

The Steigenberger Hotel Group has modified its strategic alignment. The two brands Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts and InterCityHotel will now be strategically managed by three Vice Presidents of Operations acting in the divisions of Steigenberger Business Hotels, Steigenberger Resort Hotels and InterCityHotel.

The Steigenberger Hotel Group has amended the executive management structure of its two brands by replacing the two strategic divisions of Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts and InterCityHotel with three operative areas: -* Steigenberger Business Hotels, -* Steigenberger Resort Hotels -* and InterCityHotels, each to be managed by its own Vice President of Operations.Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG, stressed the benefits of the realignment. "The new structure will enable us to manage each individual division in an even more strategically targeted manner and will facilitate more rapid implementation of measures which are relevant to our customers and to the market. In addition to this, the accelerated growth our company is enjoying is creating strategic challenges. We will now be able to meet these challenges more effectively."The three Vice Presidents Operations, Jörg Schiffmann, Kai H. Gehrmann and Thomas Knabner, are responsible for the implementation of strategic measures to review performance and for the securing and continuing development of operative standards in Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts und InterCityHotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium.Jörg Schiffmann has been appointed Vice President Operations Steigenberger Business Hotels at Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts. He joined the Steigenberger Hotel Group in mid-November 2012 from the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, where he had held the position of Area Vice President Operations, and now has strategic responsibility for the 35 Business Hotels operated by Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts.Kai H. Gehrmann has taken on the position of Vice President Operations Steigenberger Resort Hotels at Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts. Previously in charge of the German hotels of Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts in his capacity as Area Director Germany, Mr. Gehrmann now has strategic responsibility for the 13 Holiday Hotels run by Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts. His remit also includes taking charge of catering for the Bayreuth Festival and acting as Managing Director of Spa GmbH.Thomas Knabner has been named Vice President Operations InterCityHotel. He occupied a range of managerial positions following his arrival at Steigenberger and InterCityHotel in 1992 before being appointed to the role of Director of Operations at the Head Office of the Steigenberger Hotel Group in Frankfurt in 2009. The 33 InterCityHotels in Germany and Austria have formed part of his area of strategic responsibility since this time.Steigenberger Hotels AG operates 80 hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Egypt.
