The Hague is the place chosen by InterContinental Hotels Group's young brand to open its first property in the Netherlands.
The midscale voco softbrand was born from InterContinental Hotels Group in 2018 with a first opening in Australia. It later expanded, first to markets already well known to the British group: the United States, then China in late 2020. voco is now open in 19 different destinations around the world, with another 29 hotels expected to open soon. With this new opening, this time in the royal and administrative capital of the Netherlands, voco wanted to combine the refinement of Dutch design with its clean style.
The voco Hotel The Hague is located in former bank offices, a historic building for the Dutch city. The central station is easily accessible (10 minutes by tramway) and the sea is only 15 minutes away from the hotel. This building was built in 1923 and has been completely renovated to make room for the young IHG brand. It is located in the royal district of the city, amidst museums, stores, and historical sites. The hotel is laid out over 7 floors, making room for no less than 204 rooms.
The hotel features a spacious atrium decorated with greenery to welcome guests. After passing through the reception area, guests are faced with "Born of Flowers," a 3D butterfly installation that extends 143 meters through the hotel's ceilings to the atrium. This place leads directly into a garden landscaped by an expert ecologist in keeping with voco's sustainability credentials. In keeping with a common voco tradition of giving each guest a special welcome gift, voco Hotel The Hague decided to give them a Borstplaat (traditional Dutch fondant) upon arrival in their room.
voco The Hague follows the brand's standards, including quality bedding (made from 100% recycled materials), eco-friendly toilets, and metropolitan decor with a friendly touch. It also offers a fully equipped gym. Non-resident guests are also invited to a "Play Work" area in the hotel lobby, mixing work and play activities. The hotel's Botanica Kitchen Bar & Lounge is the hotel's main restaurant and caters to both guests and non-residents. It has taken the challenge of cooking with 80% fresh vegetables. Voco The Hague is also home to the Ultramarijn Wonderbar, a bar serving drinks as well as a range of pastries, breakfasts, and lunch and dinner options. There is also a bar in the hotel's basement where mixologists prepare numerous cocktails.
