Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott Bonvoy's 30-brand portfolio, and Singaporean developer Chiu Teng Enterprises announced Wednesday the opening of Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, marking the Parisian brand's debut in the Maldives.
Located in Thilamaafushi, the southern pocket of Lhaviyani Atoll, Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa features 141 villas. Guests can easily access the resort via a 35-minute seaplane ride north from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Male.
The interior and exterior design celebrates the distinct life and culture of the Maldives, as well as its landscape, and blends with Le Meridien's signature mid-century modern and Bauhaus aesthetic to present a resort in harmony with the natural environment.
Guests can relax and rejuvenate at Explore Spa by Le Méridien and the resort's two infinity pools, and will find six restaurants and bars at their disposal, highlighting world flavors and local products: the Tabemasu Restaurant, Le Riviera Bar, Waves Café, Velaa Bar + Grill. They will also be able to gather in the Meridien Hub and visit Le Turquoise Market.
The hotel maintains a low carbon footprint through state-of-the-art practices focused on renewable energy, waste reduction and the use of renewable resources.
With a nostalgic nod to the glamour of the French Riviera in the 1960s, Le Méridien inspires travelers to explore the world in style, savor the good life and enjoy experiences that offer something more than meets the eye. We are thrilled to bring Le Méridien to this internationally desired destination, the perfect place for guests to step out of their daily routine and escape to a glamorous getaway where wandering without an agenda and lingering longer are encouraged.

The opening of Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa marks the second Marriott International property to open in the Maldives this summer and the brand's seventh entry into the destination. We look forward to further expanding our portfolio in the Maldives to provide distinctive and personalized experiences for travelers.
