The Spanish operator is continuing its expansion in China with the opening of two new properties under its Gran Meliá brand, which already has a hotel in the city of Xi'An.
The Gran Meliá Chengdu will open its doors in the autumn of 2020 and will offer 265 rooms. Located close to the Global Centre, as well as the financial district and the city's congress centre, the hotel will consist of 7 buildings with elements inspired by Chinese Shu-Han culture. The hotel will offer a wide range of services, including an extensive dining offer with a café, a Chinese restaurant, a Spanish cuisine restaurant, a bar and a lounge. It will also have more than 3,500 square metres dedicated to events and conventions, a spa and fitness centre, as well as an indoor swimming pool.
The Gran Meliá Zhengzhou Hotel will open its doors at the end of the 2020. The hotel will have 387 rooms, offering panoramic views of the river and the city. The property will also have a lounge in the lobby, a bar, three restaurants and MICE spaces. In addition, the hotel will have a spa and fitness centre, including a sauna and swimming pool.
With the opening of these two hotels, Meliá Hotels International will now have seven hotels in China and plans to open a further nine new hotels in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia between 2020 and 2021, continuing its growing expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, with plans to reach more than 50 hotels in the region in the coming years.
