After an investment of nearly 17 million euros, the first phase of the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort is getting ready to open very soon.

Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) and Barceló Hotel Group are working together on their plan to reposition hotel assets in the Canary Islands, one of their strategic destinations. The end of March marks the opening of the first phase of the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort. It consists of the former Occidental Lanzarote Playa and Occidental Lanzarote Mar.

Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort is an innovative concept since it is the first resort of the HIP portfolio, combining sports, leisures and gastronomy on the site of Lanzarote within the Canary Islands. It is the first resort of its kind in the HIP portfolio.

The second phase of repositioning and investment is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022. Once completed, the resort will have 808 rooms and a wide range of sports facilities including an Olympic swimming pool, caissons and a professional cycling centre. The ambition of HIP and Barceló with the opening of this complex is "to offer a complete and differentiated experience integrated with the local culture".

The former Occidental Lanzarote Playa, located on Ancla beach in Costa Teguise, is reopening after a complete renovation of its offer and facilities. The building, which is currently being inaugurated, has 372 completely renovated rooms, 148 of which are Royal Level rooms with exclusive and personalised services. It also has a renewed F&B offer with a new restaurant and a new pool bar in the Oasis area. The main buffet and the pool area have also been redesigned.
