The group expands its portfolio with the signing of a Hotel Indigo in Italy.
InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Venice Sant’Elena which plans to open in 2019. It is the third time that the group’s brand signs a property in Italy. H.n.H. Hotels & Resorts S.p.A. will operate under a franchise agreement.
Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena is located near the canal Rio Sant’ Elena and the Castello district, known for its historic architecture and its quietness. Originally, the 77-room Hotel Indigo Venice Sant’Elena was an old convent built in the 1930’s. The property will be composed of two wings joined by a former chapel. The hotel has an interior courtyard, large windows and high ceilings inspired from the district’s architecture.
Hylko Versteeg, Associate Vice President of Development Southern Europe, IHG, declares that Hotel Indigo footprint in Europe “is set to double in the next 3 to 5 years”.
As of January 1, 2017, IHG ranked third hotel group worldwide with 5,174 properties for a total of more than 767,000 rooms, according to data from Hospitality ON.
