Europe

Founded more than 30 years ago, the budget-oriented hotels group, B&B Hotels, keeps growing. The group is majority owned by Goldman Sachs and is implemented in 12 countries, with around 530 hotels and approximately 47 000 rooms.

B&B Hotels Group announced several openings for properties in France and in Europe by early 2021.

"In this particular context that we are all familiar with, the B&B HOTELS Group has chosen to pursue its development. As evidenced by our forthcoming openings planned in France and Europe, we intend to play a key role in the European hotel market. We want to continue this development to enable our customers to travel around the world as they are already used to in our hotels, i.e. as if they were at home" explains Fabrice Collet, CEO of B&B HOTELS. "We are on a new dynamic and we still have many great projects to come between now and 2021".

The hotel chain is planning to open franchises in Poitiers, Cambrai and Ouistreham. Additionally, by the end of 2020, two hotels are planned in Italy (in Cortina and Bolzano) and in Germany, 600 rooms are planned between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 (6 hotels) and 200 in Austria (2 hotels).

Furthermore, in 2021, 1 hotel with 130 rooms will open its doors in Lublin, Poland and will join the 8 hotels existing. In Belgium, the Ghent hotel will open in January 2021 with 114 rooms and 327 rooms are also expected in Switzerland (3 hotels) and in Hungary B&B Hotels will open its first hotel with 214 rooms in Budapest. In Spain, 4 new establishments in the cities of Malaga and Murcia will soon be welcoming customers. In Portugal, where B&B Hotels already has 4 hotels with the recent opening in Lisbon, the group plans to open its first hotel in Porto very soon. The hotels group also targets international countries and will open 2 new hotels in Brazil: in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo (Presidente Prudente).

At the same time as this expansion, the hotels chain is pursuing its digital strategy by gradually attaching all its establishments to a single online sales platform. The hotelbb.com website, available in France, Spain, Italy and Germany, now enables the brand's customers to book their stays in Belgium (2 hotels), Switzerland (4 hotels) and Poland (8 hotels). This means that almost 520 hotels are now accessible at the best price and without an intermediary on the brand's website.

Eventually, the next step is to link these hotels to the CLUB loyalty programme, and to offer customers contactless check-in possibilities, just as in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
